Over 70 to Chico

A plan was hatched to do a simple meet and cruise through the hills to the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico. It was an amazing day and drive, but things never go according to plan.
The Group at the offset of the trip.

The road got narrow, and winding, as we dropped into the canyon that carved the the Feather River.

Easily one of the most amazing drives I've ever been on. Following the river, the scenery...

the winding road...

the bridges...

Power stations, dams, tunnels...

and more bridges... All more impressive than the last.
Until disaster.

A quick jerk of the wheel to dodge a rock was all it took to end a S2000's life. Luckily both occupants were okay.

It was a sobering reminder of what we do, what we'd all been doing, and what was at stake.

Pushing a wadded up and destroyed car off the road was a surreal experience.

The road looked like a yard sale had been set up. We through what we could over the rail, only it and a few feet separated, and saved the car from a huge drop, and certain death.

Sober as a priest on Sunday, we arrived.

The pose says Bigfoot, the face says Billy Mays. You decide.

It was a massive and immaculate facility that they were happy to show off. But surprisingly small consider they brew it all right here, and its sold in Europe, Australia, and here, of course.

Expired ID? You get a can of fine, organic, lemonade.

Bugs could not wait to sacrifice themselves on Bart's S2000, and no one else's oddly.

This is how I had to have looked the entire day.

I can't state enough, and the photos can't do enough justice, to the amazing road and scenery.

For most of it I was hanging out the side window like a dog, amazed.

We head home, missing a few we started with.

The rock tunnels made for perfect full throttle passes.

Looking back I realized how few photos I took of the cars, and how many of the scenery.

Each stop, each angle, you saw something amazing and impressive to stare at, so many adventures to be had in that one canyon.

We had to investigate.

Required Explorer pose. It's apart of my Team Zissou application.

You don't need a sign to know.

The farmer's tan is coming in nice this year.

Eventually boredom got the best of me and I started a project to photograph the world through my eyes, or at least glasses. Polarization is nice.
